Censored!!!

"Censorship is hardly, if ever justified."

Do you remember Titanic, yes that movie about the majestic ship on a historic voyage. What made the movie a huge success was not only the connection with the historic disaster and the majesty of the ship but also the breath-taking love story of Jack and Rose. Another thing about the movie which caught newslines was the scene when Rose gets her nude portrait sketched. Though this scene might have given a sect of people a good reason to go watch the movie, it was however edited out by the censor board. The un-censored version sell like hot cakes in the black market, but that's another story. Censorship has always been a debated issue with the media and broadcasting industry. Each country has a separate censorship system and different criteria of certificating movies. Not only movies, the censorship system is also applied to advertisements, books, TV programmes and even newspapers. The need for censorship and its criteria for judging is however a complex issue.

Information and Learning..

" As societies all over the world have more and more access to new information the effects on lifelong learning can only be positive. "

The world is no longer a huge place to live in. The idea of world being a global village has materialized with the revolution in communications and advent of the internet. Gone are the days when Pheidippides ran all the way to Athens to deliver the message of victory and the run claimed his life. The globe has shrinked with all the parts constantly connected by wired, wireless and satellite connectivity. It is the age when i can call up my friend on the other side of the globe just to say 'Hi' in a matter of seconds. This revolution in personal communication is only a manifestation of the countless avenues that the connected globe has opened. The biggest advantage that has emerged is the universal availablity of a huge pool of shared knowledge and resources. With all the people sharing information on all sorts of subjects imaginable you can do away with your ignorance on a flip of fingers. No longer do i waste time figuring out 'what might that mean ?', i just google it out and get the exact and complete information. With all the knowledge mankind has accrued so far being available to all, there is no more a fear of loss of critical information. Not only can one save the information from perishing now but can also broadcast it universally. The quantity and ease of access to information has therefore made it possible that any new development or news quickly trickles down to all societies around the globe. However the effect of this convienient availablity on the learning process has been a matter of analysis and debate.

Rigid laws need to be made flexible to take account of circumstances.

"Laws should not be rigid or fixed. Instead, they should be flexible enough to take account of various circumstances, times, and places."

The human mind has been blessed with the ability to think without limits. The numerous subjects it can analyse and the ability to think from various aspects, dimensions, knows no bounds. This ability to think and process a million thoughts also gives birth to a chaos of ideas. These ideas could be black, white or gray and the mind has to go through this whole chaos to come up with a reliable action plan, to do what should be done. But how reliable is the mind to decide which of these actions is right to do at the individual and global level. I intend to emphasize that every non-ideal situation related to us is basically a product of a flawed thought process. Again there are roughly some 6 billion people who walk this earth and each man's chaos works in a different way. If everybody did the right thing to do always, there had been no wrongs which is obviously not the case.

"Education should be equally devoted to enriching the personal lives of students and to training students to be productive workers."

Education is an important element in anybody's life. The importance lies in the fact that it teaches us to live and manage life itself. Ofcourse, one could live a life without a formal education but the chances that it would have quality are scarce. Living life just for the sake of it is meaningless. Again one could point out examples of people who made it big in the world without a formal education but these heroes had to struggle hard in 'not so healthy' conditions to see this day. It is because of this importance that education is considered a basic individual right and is taken up seriously by governments.

RE-INTRODUCED

I've used this blog primarily to put up my poems till now. The poems and their dead pace of occurence on the blog appeared to be fulfilling till now. But it seems this fashion will lead it to a demise, from dormancy to extinction. The need is therefore intense for this stuff to catch some rigor. My instincts indicate now that this blog needs to evolve. So putting it straight and flat, expect all kinds of things from now on over here.

The poems however will continue to be here at intervals.

In a nutshell........Watch this Space!!!!!

Enamored..

I won't curse the loud neighbour this time,
no more verbal abuse and exchanging hand-signs,
And the slender little guy i bullied yesterday,
sent him a bouquet and a Sorry card in gray.

Road to Glory

Yesterday sinks down dusky red,
ups and downs gone and dead,
the very feet craving to tread,
and path yearns to march ahead.

The beat goes on

For every disaster that comes upon
I wish I cud go back and restore it down
We keep essentials waiting for right or wrong
But time has no U turn and it goes on
